KACo Insurance Grant Application


The Kentucky Association of Counties (KACo) is pleased to once again offer members of our Workers’ Compensation Fund and All Lines Fund the opportunity to apply for a KACo Insurance Grant to help increase safety and reduce losses associated with these insurance programs.

Eligibility
 

All insured members of the KACo Workers’ Compensation Fund or All Lines Fund are eligible to apply. Grants may be used for future purchases intended to reduce losses/insurance claims covered by either fund, including:

  • Equipment
  • Training programs
  • Consulting services
  • Property improvements that reduce risk of personal injury

Grant Amount & Matching Requirement 

  • Grant recipients will be awarded up to $10,000 toward the proposed project.
  • 80% funding program – members must match at least 20% of the total project cost. The maximum grant amount from KACo is $10,000.
  • Example: Wonderful County submits grant application for the purchase of a $12,500 safety device. The KACo Insurance Grant covers $10,000 and Wonderful County contributes the remaining $2,500.

Application Deadline 

  • All applications must be submitted online by 11:59 p.m. ET on Sept. 19, 2025.

Application Process 

  • Complete the online application form below.
  • You will receive an email confirmation once your application is received.
  • The application period is open Aug. 19 – Sept. 19, 2025. Insured members may submit one application during this period.

Helpful Hints

  • The KACo Insurance Grant Program is a loss control grant—focus on projects that directly reduce risks covered by your KACo insurance.
  • Applications may include one or more products or services. 
  • Highlight items that are critical to your operations and challenging to fund otherwise.

Priority Funding Areas 

Priority will be given to proposals that address: 

  • Vehicle accident and damage prevention
  • Lifting injury reduction
  • Law enforcement liability related to detention centers, sheriff’s offices, and county police operations (reducing bodily injury and/or property damage claims/lawsuits from third parties against the agency)
  • Cybersecurity improvements
  • Slip, trip and fall prevention
  • Personal safety connected to chemical, pathogen, needle exposure or similar

Award Decisions & Purchasing Guidelines 

  • Applicants will be notified by email once all applications are reviewed and award decisions have been made.
  • The review and decision process will take several weeks.
  • Important: Approved projects must involve purchases made after the award date—funding is for future expenses only.
