KACo Leadership Institute: Top Ten County Audit Findings

The Kentucky Auditor of Public Accounts conducts more than 600 audits annually. This training will feature the ten most common findings in local offices as well as how to avoid them. Two experienced APA auditors will walk through the how, why, and how to stop ten of the most common audit findings.

Speakers

Liz Lowe, Quality Assurance Manager

Liz Lowe has a degree in Accounting and has more than 20 years of government auditing experience. She has worked as a financial auditor and auditor in charge over local government audits in central Kentucky and has assisted in the completion of other audits, such as the state’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and the Statewide Single Audit of Kentucky.  She has also worked on special examinations and on developing and revising audit programs. She is currently the Quality Assurance Manager and focuses on ensuring the auditors at the APA comply with auditing standards as well as on internal and external training.

Jonathan Johnson, Recruiting/Intern/Training Coordinator

Jonathan Johnson graduated from the University of Kentucky with degrees in English and Marketing.  After working twelve years for the Department of Revenue, Jonathan joined the Auditor of Public Accounts in 2018 where he is responsible for managing the onboarding process for new employees, summer intern program, and training.  He also performs quality reviews of audits and speaks to universities all through the Commonwealth about a career in public accounting.
