2025 KACo Leadership Institute: Opioid Solutions Monthly Webinar Series (April)

Date: April 10, 2025
Time: 11:00 AM-12:00 PM Eastern
Location: Virtual
Recovery supports are vital in helping individuals rebuild their lives, access resources, and find community connection to sustain long-term recovery. These efforts extend beyond treatment by encouraging peer engagement, reducing stigma, and ensuring access to wraparound services such as housing, transportation, and job training.
Highlights from the Speakers:
- David Brumett from the Cabinet for Health and Family Services explored the benefits of Recovery Community Centers (RCCs). These centers act as welcoming hubs where individuals in recovery can connect with resources and find support. Brumett encouraged county leaders to consider establishing RCCs, emphasizing their role in building recovery-centric communities.
- Tara Hyde from People Advocating Recovery (PAR) focused on removing barriers to recovery through collaboration. PAR connects individuals to community-based supports while offering services such as leadership training, mentorship, and guidance on healthcare financing. Hyde called for greater partnership among nonprofits and organizations to foster sustainable recovery networks.
- Billy O’Bryan, representing Young People in Recovery (YPR), shared insights on addressing the unique needs of young people recovering from substance use. YPR chapters throughout Kentucky offer services like life skills training, harm reduction workshops, and advocacy initiatives. By hosting social events and community volunteer efforts, YPR strengthens peer connections and inspires broader conversations around recovery.
By continuing to invest in recovery supports and fostering collaborative ecosystems, Kentucky counties are building pathways to hope and healing.
