During the 2021 session, Rep. Reed sponsored and supported various bills that advanced issues important to counties. He was a co-sponsor of House Bill 320, which related to increasing access to broadband across the Commonwealth through designating $250 million of Kentucky's ARPA funds.
“I am incredibly honored to receive the County Advocate Award from KACo, because I know we share the common goal of strengthening our communities and creating opportunities for folks in rural Kentucky,” said Rep. Reed. “As a result, we’ve made strides for our state on issues like broadband, rural infrastructure and a responsible budget.”
Jim Henderson, KACo Executive Director and CEO, presented the award to Rep. Reed on behalf of county officials across Kentucky.
“Rep. Reed is a true county advocate,” Henderson said. “His leadership this year on expanding broadband funding and investments in infrastructure was vital. All counties, but especially rural counties, have been given a new opportunity to thrive with these funding commitments. Brandon is a real advocate for counties. Thank you for having a servant’s heart.”
The County Advocate award is being presented to legislators who have supported counties throughout the 2021 session by sponsoring or shepherding legislation that helps counties continue to provide services without unfunded mandates or limiting home rule.
