Energy and Environment Cabinet seeks input on state waterways

From the Energy and Environment Cabinet
Cabinet officials want to hear from county officials on ways to curtail waste in Kentucky’s streams and waterways.

Senate resolution 238 created an opportunity for the Energy and Environmental Cabinet to construct a plan to remove waste tires from Kentucky’s streams and waterways.

Waste tires pose a threat to the health and quality of Kentucky’s waterways and to human health.

The Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet’s Division of Waste Management will be holding two listening sessions, one in eastern and one in western Kentucky, to explore strategies and ideas.

The cabinet will be considering best practices for removing waste tires from waterways and will compile a report detailing strategies and recommendations. Once a plan is written, it will be sent to Kentucky lawmakers for review.

You are invited to help create this new plan to shape and protect Kentucky’s waterways.

The western Kentucky Listening session is set for July 29 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Lincoln Trail Area Development District office in Elizabethtown.

The eastern Kentucky listening session will be on July 31 at the Bath County Extension Office from 10 a.m. to noon.
