HB 810 Training Program

By Sydney Blodgett, Member Engagement Manager
House Bill 810 (KRS 64.5275) developed the training incentive program for elected county officials.

Judge/executives, fiscal court members, county clerks, sheriffs and jailers are eligible for an annual financial incentive to participate in training events approved and certified by the Department of Local Government (DLG).

County official participation in the program is voluntary. Elected officials can begin accruing hours once they take office. To enroll, complete and submit the County Elected Officials Training Participation Form to DLG through their website.

Officials shall receive no more than one training unit per calendar year nor more than four incentive payments per calendar year by providing documentation of 40 hours of approved training. Each elected official can carry forward up to 40 hours of training credit into the following calendar year for the purpose of satisfying the minimum amount of training for that year.

KACo offers a variety of trainings eligible for HB 810 credit.

Please note that DLG authorizes the incentive payment. For questions concerning the County Officials Training Program, please contact Tanya Kearney (502-564-0674). To check your credit hours, visit Kentucky DLG - County Officials Training Program.
