During the 2024 legislative session, the General Assembly passed the County Priority Projects Program (CPPP), which gives lawmakers more oversight of which road projects are funded. Local governments must submit their road projects for consideration by Oct. 15.
Here are the basics of CPPP:
- Lawmakers appropriated $20 million each year of the biennial budget. The first round of projects for FY25 were approved through House Joint Resolution 92.
- The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) Department of Rural and Municipal Aid is processing funding applications for CPPP July 1 - Oct. 15, 2024. Use form TC 20-41 to apply.
- Email applications to RuralandMunicipalAid@ky.gov, and/or bobbijo.lewis@ky.gov.
- KYTC will compile the applications and road ratings and provide a list to lawmakers by Nov. 1, 2024.
- Projects selected in the 2025 legislative session will have funding available in FY26.
