Strengthening Reentry: Expanding Warm Handoff Programs in Kentucky Jails 

Counties play a critical role in supporting individuals at one of the highest-risk points for overdose: the transition from incarceration back into the community. The presentation will highlight First Day Forward, a peer-led jail reentry program established through grant funding that is currently operating in Boyd, Carter, Greenup, Mason, Montgomery, and Rowan counties. The program utilizes peer support specialists with lived experience to serve as a bridge between incarceration and the community.
