Patriotism on display as America celebrates 250 years

What are some ways that you show your patriotism?
By Susan Riddell, Editor

Whether it centers on freedom and voting, service to others or community pride, one thing is certain: patriotism comes in an amazing variety of forms.

KACo Executive Committee members were asked what patriotism means to each of them recently for the upcoming issue of County Line.

While you’ll read more from them when the issue comes out, there is no better time to share snippets of their thoughts as we head into this milestone Independence Day weekend. What does patriotism mean to you?

President Adam O’Nan - Union County Judge/Executive

To me, patriotism is a deep love of country and our freedoms, with a deep respect and reverence for those that made those freedoms possible and still protect them today.

President-elect Michael Logsdon - Oldham County Magistrate

Being patriotic, I picture our American flag flying on front porches, towns across this beautiful country holding parades, people decorating their floats as people gather, cheering each other on.

1st Vice President Sean Curry - Green County Property Valuation Administrator

It is up to us to keep this 250-year-old experiment ongoing by voting, standing up and being a voice for all people, and making a lasting impression for our future generations.

2nd Vice President Jacqalynn Ammer Riley - Grant County Magistrate

It means serving others, caring for our communities and families, while working together to ensure future generations can enjoy the same freedom and opportunity.

Immediate Past President Dan Mosley - Harlan County Judge/Executive

Things may not always be great, but we should always love this country because even in our toughest moments, nowhere on this earth is there a better or safer place to live.
