Louis Kelly is the new president of the Kentucky Commonwealth’s Attorneys Association.
Sworn in Aug. 22, Kelly takes over for Blake Chambers, who now is the immediate past president of the association. Kelly will assume Chambers' seat on the KACo Board of Directors at its next meeting.
Kelly serves the 54th Judicial Circuit consisting of Boone and Gallatin counties.
Along with Kelly and Chambers (38th, Butler, Edmonson, Hancock and Ohio counties), the other Kentucky Commonwealth’s Attorney Association officers are Vice President Ronnie Bowling (34th, McCreary and Whitley counties); Secretary Kori Bumgarner (8th, Warren County); and Treasurer Kimberly Baird (22nd, Fayette County).
Prior to taking office, Kelly was a partner at Adams, Stepner, Woltermann & Dusing, PLLC, where he practiced in the firm’s Civil Litigation and Government practice groups representing numerous public and private entities in a variety of legal actions in both state and federal court on issues ranging from civil rights, whistleblower actions, workers compensation, harassment and discrimination claims.
In addition to KACo, Kelly has given presentations to several regional and national groups.
He has been appointed to serve on numerous boards and commissions including the Kentucky Corrections Commission, Northern Kentucky Drug Strike Force, the Northern Kentucky Area Development District, the City of Florence Board of Adjustment, and the Kentucky Workers’ Compensation Nominating Committee, where he served as Chair.
Kelly is a member of the Kentucky and the Northern Kentucky Bar Associations. He received his B.B.A. from the Carol Martin Gatton School of Business at the University of Kentucky in 2001 and his J.D. from NKU Chase College of Law in 2007, the same year he was admitted to the Kentucky Bar.
