A year ago, jail personnel and other stakeholders met to network across system silos, identify barriers and determine next steps toward needed behavioral health, criminal-legal and child welfare systems solutions.
This year’s session hopes to build on that momentum and continue the important work ahead.
County officials and community partners are invited to attend this complimentary workshop and networking opportunity: Navigating Complex Systems Together Sept. 17, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. ET at Kentucky Association of Counties (KACo) Headquarters.
Hosted by the University of Kentucky’s Rapid Implementation Technical Assistance (RITA) Hub, this session brings together KACo members, Kentucky’s helping professionals (community health workers, social workers, peer support specialists, etc.), state agency representatives and others working in carceral and reentry settings.
The RITA Hub provides free technical assistance throughout Kentucky to help communities implement evidence-based practices that improve outcomes for individuals affected by substance use disorders.
The event is designed to facilitate networking opportunities, encourage collaboration and create connections to RITA Hub workgroups including the Navigators of the Commonwealth for helping professionals, the Reimagining Reentry peer support team, and a collective of jail administrators, medical providers and state agency representatives dedicated to expanding access to medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) in county jails.
KACo Opioid Settlement Advisor Lauren Carr will represent the MOUD in Jail workgroup, highlighting how counties can strategically use opioid settlement funds to support evidence-based MOUD and strengthen treatment and recovery efforts in local jails.
