6 counties to undergo post-election audits

By Christie Dutton
The Kentucky Attorney General's office will perform post-election audits on Bourbon, Carter, Fleming, Marion, Muhlenberg and Scott counties.

These six counties were selected at random for the audits, which are required by state law. The law states that at least 5% of Kentucky's counties must be audited by the state's attorney general after every primary and general election. A public drawing was held on Monday to determine the six counties that will be audited for the primary election last month.

The attorney general will be looking for any election law violations, checking election forms, and interviewing county officials. The audit could take several months as officials look for any wrongdoing or irregularities from the election process in these six counties.

The attorney general's office recently concluded the post-election audit of the 2018 general election for Breathitt, Grayson, Greenup, McCreary, Washington and Webster counties. That audit determined there were no potential wrongdoing or violations.
