Research
KACo staff conducts research to assist counties to better understand their history, as well as current issues and problems they face in developing or expanding services or achieving economies of scale to improve the lives of residents.
Research topics often include:
- county origin & history
- demographics
- geographic/spatial information (maps)
- financial information (budgets, audits)
- salary & benefit information on elected and non-elected county personnel
- information on special districts and other public service entities
In addition to the above, KACo is a source for draft legal instruments which counties need to develop services, coordinate or share resources with neighboring counties, and many other purposes. These documents include:
- ordinances and resolutions
- interlocal cooperative agreements
- memoranda of agreement/memoranda of understanding
- interstate compacts/agreements
- health exchange contracts/agreements (for upcoming changes in health care due to national legislation)
